Learning to Make the Right Choices: How Smart Decisions Can Be Beautiful and Cost-Effective
Choosing to beautify a home with ornamental flowers can be splendid. But what if edible plants were added instead? When carefully and beautifully arranged, these plants can serve more than just decorative purposes — they also offer nutritional value and cost-saving benefits.
In developed countries, setting up a home is a serious task. Essential features that make life easier are prioritized. Flowers are arranged ornamentally, and gardens are thoughtfully planned. Often, essential plants are grown, sometimes even protected by decorative plants, all based on the homeowner's budget.
But in many developing countries — take my country as a case study — buildings are often constructed without considering the natural benefits our land can offer us for free.
Sometimes, large compounds remain unused, while they could be used to grow fruits or vegetables for home consumption. This is not only practical but cost-effective.
So, the next time you're thinking of planting ornamental flowers, consider mixing in vegetables or fruit-bearing plants. You'll still enjoy a beautiful view — and also have food on your table. That’s like using one good idea to solve two problems!
